APIs: The Fabric of GenAI

API stands for Application Programming Interface. In the context of APIs, the word ‘Application’ refers to any software with a distinct function. Interface can be thought of as a contract of service between two applications. This contract defines how the two parties communicate with each other using requests and responses.

Generative Artificial Intelligence, or GenAI, is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) system capable of generating text, images, or other media in response to prompts. Generative AI models learn the patterns and structure of their input training data and then generates new data that has similar characteristics.
