GOQii (pronounced Go-Key) is an Indian fitness technology company, headquartered in California that offers a wearable fitness band with a mobile-app, and personalized remote health coaching. GOQii has a wearable fitness band which collects users’ (called players) activity and sleep data.

A personal coach is assigned to a player who reviews this data and communicates via mobile app to guide them towards their health and fitness goals.Players earn Karma points when they meet their daily goals. They can use these points, which third party donors match in dollars, to donate to their chosen charity.

GOQii wanted to have a cost effective Data Lake Platform to do analysis, ML Models for coaching the assistant, user behavior analysis for recommendation engine and BI Dashboards. GOQii also wanted to have an efficient data transformation process which could help them overcome the challenges around data accuracy and data cleaning, which was further used for Business Intelligence Dashboard and other downstream applications. GOQii faced a challenge to establish cross-region replication for Clevertap analytics data from different region to India region that can be used for further analytics with mobile application data.

GOQii‘s existing system did not have any type of data and analytics platform and stored all their mobile application and customer specific data into AWS databases. Searce enabled a cost effective Data Lake implementation to start their own data and analytics platform which brings in the both historical and incremental raw data from Amazon RDS database to Amazon S3 with help of Aws LakeFormation blueprints and curated the data into a different S3 bucket. The data was then made available through Amazon Athena for BI dashboarding by leveraging Glue catalog to query the data directly from Amazon S3 and also to perform advanced analytics on the data by creating ML models for coaching the assistant, user behavior for recommendation engine, etc.

With the new Architecture design and AWS services GOQii was able to:

• Built a cost effective centralized data storage in AWS Cloud to start their advanced analytics
• Implemented & Improved data processing pipelines to maintain data accuracy for further analysis
• Easy access to the data for data analysts to perform ad hoc queries
• Successfully created a reporting layer for BI dashboards

Searce’s solution enabled GOQii to enhance the data and analytics platform to start on with their Business reports with advanced analytics which helped them understand customers and provide an effective service. The implementation of Datalake helped GOQii to improve the business performance and decision making.
