With a 33% share of the worldwide oral care market and many successful forays into wider verticals such as Beauty & Cosmetics, Pharma & Health, Food, Home and Oral they are the world’s largest producer of laminated plastic tubes.

EPL was facing challenges to transform and perform calculation on IOT data coming from multiple factories into on-premise databases- MongoDB and Postgres Database. MongoDB contains machine specific details and PostgresQL contains customer order related details. They wanted to build a data lake using their multiple data sources including SAP HANA. Further build an analytical layer and dashboards to provide business users flexibility to consume data on their own terms to get better insights.

Searce conducted a Well-Architected Review of their Overall architecture that ensures that the overall architecture follows the Best Practices of the Industry which are also recommended by AWS. The Searce solution involved:

• Created AWS DMS migration task to migrate data from postgreSQL and MongoDB data to S3 and Redshift
• Developed Lambda function to copy historical and delta data to Redshift and scheduled it for every 5 minutes
• Deployed pipeline to extract data from SAP HANA and load into Redshift by using AWS Glue
• Design DW schema as per AWS Redshift best practices and reduce the complexity
• Deployed transformation jobs to process data, created analytical layers on Amazon Redshift
• Integrated Redshift data with Power BI dashboards

The Searce solution enabled the organization to resolve their existing issues and boost their business with:

• Accelerated the data sync from multiple data sources in near real-time (within 5 minutes) to data lake and data warehouse
• Significant savings in terms of licensing & infrastructure cost of SAP HANA by offloading analytics workload on Redshift
• Faster performance to process large volumes of data quickly and efficiently to get the real time business insights
